Game Recap: Manchester United 5-2 LA Galaxy

Manchester United eased to a victory in Los Angeles as the Red Devils rolled past the LA Galaxy. Both Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof appeared for United in the match.

This is how Manchester United lined up in the first half:

United seemed to lineup in a 3-5-1-1 formation. This is a lot different from anything the team lined up last season. The Red Devils definitely lined up in a 3-back with Smalling playing at the heart of it.

Manchester United started the scoring in the 2nd minute when the Red Devils were gifted a goal after a bad giveaway. Jesse Lingard poked the ball away into the path of Rashford who slotted it past the Galaxy goalkeeper.

Rashford doubled the lead in the 20th minute when Juan Mata played in the 19-year old. He slipped it past the goalkeeper. United were totally in control at this point in the game and the Galaxy were struggling to keep any sort of possession.

Marouane Fellaini added to the scoring in the 26th minute when Lingard did great work on the touchline to create his own space. He then laid it back to the Belgian who tucked it away with his left foot.

Both sides made lots of changes at the half. Manchester United subbed all 11 players at the break. They went up against a lineup that included the ex-Chelsea player Ashley Cole.

The Red Devils lined up in a 3-5-2 formation that included the two new signings in Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof. This lineup faced a much tougher LA Galaxy team that involved more of their first team players.

Henrikh Mkhitayran started the scoring in the second half when Anthony Martial slipped in between the two center backs of the LA Galaxy. The Armenian attacker slotted it past the helpless goalkeeper.

Martial scored the 5th goal for United when Timothy Fosu-Mensah played a reverse ball to the Frenchman. Martial slotted the ball home perfectly into the corner to extend Manchester United’s big lead.

The LA Galaxy pulled one back when Giovani Dos Santos slipped behind the defense and curled the ball past Joel Pereira. This was a bright moment for the MLS side.

Demetri Mitchell subbed on for Timothy Fosu-Mensah in the 86th minute. Mitchell slid in at left wing-back, while Darmian switched to right wing-back. Giovani Dos Santos scored again in the 88th minute off of a corner kick when Dave Romney won the initial header.
