Formation

Jose Mourinho will want to test out different formations for United this pre-season to best suit his players. He will need to find a way to help Pogba defensively and protect the back four. Last year, it was Ander Herrera who did this job. He may need to go to the transfer window to find this player, but he will be able to experiment in pre-season.

It is very likely that United could play in a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 system. This would mean they could lineup like so:

  Lukaku

Rashford   Mkhitaryan   Lingard

  Pogba   Herrera
Shaw       Valencia
  Lindelof   Bailly
    De Gea
