According to the Premier League website, the top 10 fastest PL players of the 2016/17 season includes just a single Manchester United player but which Red Devil was it?

The pacy list includes the obvious candidates Hazard, Vardy and Walker but also players who aren’t normally associated or praised for their speed. West Brom’s James McClean and Matt Phillips as well as Bournemouth’s Brad Smith all make the list too. Manchester United, unfortunately, aren’t represented as much.

If you were to make a list of the fastest players at Old Trafford you might include the likes of Martial, Rashford, Valencia, Lingard and even possibly Young or Smalling so it’s a little strange to think only one player made the Premier League’s top 10 fastest players of the 2016/17 season.

If you guessed none other than Marcus ‘The Kid’ Rashford then you were correct. Although, if you guessed he came in first of that list then you actually guessed wrong. The pacy forward came in second instead, clocking in a top speed of 35.21 km/hr which is impressive in and of itself.

For a little context, Hazard came in last in the 10th spot and Vardy came in 7th so it’s fair to say that Manchester United’s upcoming star has done pretty well for himself. Of course the differences are minuscule as everyone on the list has hit the same 35km/hr minimum but when it comes to what’s after the decimal, Rashford is the 2nd fastest player in the Premier League.

Manchester United fans know just how much of an asset his pace is to the team, causing trouble to top Premier League sides and ageing defenders alike, it’s safe to say many world class managers would love to have Rashford on board. Thankfully it’s Manchester United’s world class manager who profits from Marcus’ pace!

However, as all Red Devils know, pace isn’t the only attribute the youngster has got going for himself.  Capable of running circles around opposition players and finishing the most unlikeliest of chances, there’s plenty more to come from Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford who’ll hopefully top both the Premier League’s top 10 fastest players list and goalscoring charts next season.
