Pre-Season
In all three pre-season friendlies, Daley Blind started at center-back with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones on vacation after Euro 2016. The Dutchman looked out of position, especially in the friendly against Borussia Dortmund. Blind played all 90 minutes in the Community Shield against Leicester City.

Start of the Season
Blind played at center back at the start of the season until Smalling and Jones were back fully fit. He was mostly utilized at left back after their return. He rotated with Luke Shaw in the beginning of the season and chipped in two assists in the win against Leicester City. On Boxing Day, Blind scored the opening goal against Sunderland.
Mid-Season
The defender was able to stay fit all season and remained a key piece for Mourinho at the start of the new year. He rotated with Matteo Darmian at this point and never really solidified himself as the starter. He was on most set pieces with his amazing left foot. Blind had his best performance against St. Etienne in the Europa League where he helped keep a clean sheet and had a solid overall performance.
End of the Season
The Dutchman was a key piece in the Europa League semi-finals by starting in both legs against Celta Vigo. Mourinho’s confidence him was seen when he gave Blind the nod at center back in the Europa League final against Ajax. He was able to keep control of the wonder kid Kasper Dolberg and helped keep the clean sheet.
Overall Stats
Blind made 39 appearances for the Red Devils this season and added a goal and two assists. He played well all season and was a mainstay for Jose Mourinho. Next season he may play a lesser role if Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw are healthy.
