Pre-Season

Luke Shaw played in the first half of the friendly against Wigan and 90 minutes in the game against Borussia Dortmund. He featured for 67 minutes in the final friendly against Galatasaray. The Englishman played 69 minutes in the Community Shield against Leicester City before being subbed off for Marcos Rojo.

Start of the Season

Shaw started the season with a series of starts under Jose Mourinho but soon fell out of favor. The Englishman never got a string of games after that and sat on the sidelines for weeks. Mourinho was disappointed in his defensive efforts but praise him in is attack from the left back position.

Mid-Season

The left-back featured twice in 2017 before April. He featured in the 4-0 win over Wigan and the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth. He failed to impress in these games and remained on the bench after these two matches.

End of the Season

Shaw returned in April to the starting lineup and added an assist in the 3-1 win against Sunderland. In the 1-1 draw against Swansea City, he suffered a serious injury and was forced to sit for the rest of the season. Another season of injuries for Luke Shaw saw him on the sidelines for most of the season. He will have to stay healthy next season if he wants to have a place in the Manchester United XI.

Overall Stats

The Englishman featured 7 times for the Red Devils and only added 1 assist. He will have to improve his production as well as stay healthy next season. He has the potential to be a world class left-back if he can get a run of games.
