Manchester United are heading to the Europa League finals are holding off Celta Vigo at Old Trafford. The Red Devils won the tie after a 1-1 draw at home and a 2-1 victory for the overall tie.

Jose Mourinho will be ecstatic that his men were able to hold off the Spanish opposition. It was a nervy ending but the Red Devils were able to pull of the win. Mourinho said on the game, “I am more than happy, more than happy if we win the Europa League. It was so difficult, so hard for me this season, so if we manage to do that it will be amazing.”

In the first half, Celta Vigo bossed most of the possession but United ended up with the lead. Marcus Rashford lifted the ball to the back post for Marouane Fellaini who headed in at the near post. The Reds clinged on to the lead and were lucky to keep Daley Blind on the field after a terrible tackle by the Dutchman.

The second half saw Celta Vigo come out strong and force a save from Sergio Romero. Late in the second half, Facundo Roncaglia nodded home from a Theo Bongonda cross to equalize. Manchester United immediately dropped off to maintain their lead over the tie. In the 88th minute, Eric Bailly and Roncaglia had a coming together and both players were sent off.

United were lucky not to concede in the dying seconds when John Guidetti couldn’t sort out his feet for an open goal opportunity. The Red Devils held off Celta Vigo and will be heading to the Europa League finals against Ajax.
