Marcus Rashford’s stunning goal at the Balaídos against Celta Vigo has given Manchester United a comfortable away goal advantage heading back to Old Trafford.
United players and fans alike will be satisfied with their most recent result away at Europa League semifinal. With a top four spot seeming all but out of reach with Manchester United’s current Premier League form, a Europa League victory would be their best chance at qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The game began with a strong showing from both goalkeepers, with each team combining for six saves throughout the game. Celta Vigo dominated the game in possession, winning the battle with 58%.
In the 67th minute, Marcus Rashford stepped up to take the free kick after a yellow card from Hugo Mallo. Daley Blind lined up next to him, and went over the ball as Rashford followed. From the right side of the pitch, the young maestro brilliantly curled it into the back of the net.
The good news ended soon after that for the Red Devils, as Ashley Young came off for an injury. The substitute went off after just 11 minutes of playing. In light of this, Chris Smalling came on for the first time in over a month.

“Let’s hope Old Trafford wants us to win because, when Old Trafford wants, we win so that’s what we want.”
“I’m very pleased with the performance, not so pleased with the result. At half-time, it should be already two and the result is open.” Stated Mourinho when asked about his thoughts on the match, according to Manutd.com
“We tried until the end, from the first minute to try and win the match and score goals but we missed chances, but the team was good, strong and compact.”
