Manchester United may have just lost their top scorer after a severe knee injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their Europa League matchup against Anderlecht. The Swede will most likely miss the rest of the season and many more months after that.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hyperextended his knee after landing awkwardly in the dying seconds of the Europa League quarterfinals. The Swede will more than likely miss the rest of the season as there is more than likely ligament damage. It is more than likely that the striker has a torn ACL. The landing resembled that of Kurt Zouma last year when the Frenchman tore his ACL.

Manchester United fans will hope that they see Ibrahimovic in a red jersey next season but they can not get their hopes up. This injury will allow the likes of Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial to make an impact as the number 9. It will be interesting to see how Jose Mourinho lines up his squad at Turf Moor this weekend at Burnley.

With Ibrahimovic likely done as a Manchester United player, Mourinho will look to the summer window to supplement his attack force as United will be in European competition next season whether it to be the Champions League or Europa League. The injury will not create an interesting run of transfer rumors. The most likely candidates at this moment are Kylian Mbappe, Romelu Lukaku, and Antoine Griezmann. It will be an interesting summer for Manchester United as they look to find a suitable replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
