After falling down the pecking order this season, Jose Mourinho’s faith in Luke Shaw is being tested. However, Shaw wants to prove Mourinho wrong.

Jose Mourinho has openly criticized English left back Luke Shaw, questioning his lack of commitment and talent when compared to other players.

Fullback has been a dry area at Manchester United since the departure of Gary Neville, but many would have hoped this would be solved with Luke Shaw. After becoming the most expensive teenager in 2014, signing for £30 million, he didn’t impress many.

When asked about the comments, Shaw said, “The criticism was very hard but I’ve had it before, but this time around I dealt with it better.”

Shaw made his first start in five weeks against Sunderland, in a 3-0 victory. Shaw didn’t accomplish much in that game and picked up a yellow card early on. He has been on the bench for the past two Manchester United games and is yet to get from there.

In 31 appearances at Manchester United, Shaw has yet to score a goal. The English left back has been plagued by injuries since his arrival from Southampton, and is looking to make more of an impact this season.

“I wished the season wasn’t coming to an end,” said Shaw, “I wish it was the start because I want to play games and games and hopefully I can keep giving good performances and keep my spot in the team and push for the Europa League and top four.”

“I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I want to push for the best from me.”

United fans will be hoping for more from Shaw in these next coming weeks and months. The question still does remain if he will even be around to play next season, as numerous clubs are attempting to make a move on the high-potential youngster.
