Manchester United reportedly keeping tabs on 21-year-old Czech sensation Patrik Schick
According to ESPN FC Peter O’Rourke, Manchester United were among several English teams to watch Sampdoria vs Inter Milan yesterday. The name on all the English scouts lists is, Patrik Schick. Schick would go on to score to help Sampdoria to a 2-1 win over Inter Milan.
While United are among a trio of English teams looking at Schick, Borrusia Dortmund and Inter Milan are also said to be looking at him. It is believed though that the three English teams will battle it out for his signature this summer. Schick recently arrived this past summer to Sampdoria from Sparta Praha for a reported fee of €4-million according to Transfermarkt. There is reportedly a €21-million release clause in place for the 21-year-old. All three English teams are reportedly keen on meeting the release clause to bring him to the Premier League.
The Czech forward has already scored eight goals in only size Serie A starts, and has one goal in three games for the Czech national team. He is best suited for the central forward spot, but could play the main striker role as well. Which bodes well for United who could slot him in behind Ibrahimovic as the central forward. United is known for the snap decisions and buying of young players who have yet to prove themselves on the biggest stages. While United isn’t adverse to spending on unproven youngsters, they may take a step back. United spent a fair deal of money to bring Anthony Martial from Monaco, and he hasn’t performed. While there is certainly a lot of potential from Schick to become a star, United should proceed with caution.
