Four Manchester United players featured in the game against Germany today. Chris Smalling started for the Three Lions, while Lingard, Rashford, and Shaw came off the bench.

England came out in a 3-4-3 system and Chris Smalling was a part of the 3 center back system. The United defender played well and held Germany to the lone long-range goal from Lukas Podolski.

Marcus Rashford came on in the 69th minute for Jamie Vardy as a center forward. While he used his pace well, the young striker was not able to get on the scoresheet. Rashford will have to fight for his place in the future to get minutes for the national team.

Jesse Lingard made his appearance in the 71st minute by coming on for Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli. Lingard did not really make an impact for the 20 minutes he was on the pitch.

Manchester United’s left-back Luke Shaw came on very late for Ryan Bertrand. The young defender did not get many touches and was only on the pitch for about 6 minutes.

It was a low-scoring friendly for England and Germany who obviously were not playing their strongest sides. England will host Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday, while Germany travel to Azerbaijan for their World Cup qualifier in Group C.
