According to Bleacher Report, Yaya Toure could be seeing a summer move to Old Trafford to his rival club, Manchester United.

Yaya Toure’s agent recently confirmed some suspicions of the Ivorian midfielder’s future regarding where he might play next season. His agent, Dimitri Seluk, said to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports that Yaya is “open to negotiations” with other clubs.

Seluk has also claimed that he and Yaya “don’t speak about China or the MLS”.

The midfielder still wants to keep his options open in Europe. When asked about the possibility of a move to Manchester United, his agent responded with:

"“Why not? Jose Mourinho is a very good coach. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was together with Yaya in Barcelona. I understand this is two clubs who are rivals, but for me, for example, this is not a problem from Yaya or from me, this problem will be from Manchester City staff.”"

Statistics

Yaya Toure has only had 21 appearances so far this season, compared to his 47 just last season. One thing to take into account is the shift in the managerial position at Manchester City, with Manuel Pellegrini leaving the club and Pep Guardiola taking over as his replacement. The former Bayern manager hasn’t been too fond of Toure and has been looking to sell him on for several months.

During those 21 appearances, Toure has tacked on six goals for his side, according to WhoScored.com.

Toure is normally played as a regular central midfielder, however, his versatile athletic ability means he is able to play all around the midfield. This makes him a great fit for Manchester United, who are going to be lacking depth in the midfield with the departure of players like Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Is he worth it?

A more concerning part of this transfer is Toure’s age. At 33, he would only be filling out Michael Carrick’s spot, not replacing him entirely. United needs players for the future, and they simply aren’t getting that with Yaya. If they aren’t paying an extreme amount, this could be a great transfer for Manchester United.

Toure probably will not see much more starting action than he did at Manchester City, and may actually see less. United already has a set midfield for this season, and unless someone leaves, it will most likely stay that way.
