The young English left back has been on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers. After breaking through under Louis Van Gaal in 2015-16 with some great performances, Mourinho asked the player to get some regular games under his belt this season. Although he started very brightly by putting in some Man of the Match performances, he has been frozen out of the team since November 2016 by the Wolves manager Paul Lambert.

This situation has irked both the player and Mourinho with a recall being seriously considered in January. But for now he has stayed at Wolves while playing the last few games for the United U23s in order to get some valuable playing time.

Next season could be a better indicator of his abilities once Luke Shaw’s future is resolved. He definitely has all the tools to be a great left back option in the squad but maybe another loan with regular playing time would be the best option.
