TEAM NEWS

Manchester United

The pre match conference saw Jose Mourinho confirm that Henrikh Mkhitaryan would be missing out on the journey to Wembley with an injury sustained in the last match. Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick have been reckoned to be fit by the Portuguese manager.

On the defensive front, Phil Jones is the only casualty as he is currently nursing a minor foot issue. Luke Shaw could feature on the bench with Mourinho not trusting the youngster enough this season. Ander Herrera is set to be included in the starting lineup again after the Spaniard served a suspension as he missed the game against St. Etienne.

Southampton

The team news for the Saints is not as good though. Currently, they have an injury crisis with star defender, Virgil van Dijk set to miss out on the game. The defender has been linked with a host of clubs lately and Manchester United have been one of them. This could have been a stage for the Dutchman to prove himself but it was not to be.

Apart from the highly rated defender, Charlie Austin, Alex McCarthy, Matt Targett and Jeremy Pied will also not make the trip to Wembley due to injuries. The injury crisis would not let Puel pick his best team for the final but the Saints players would be raring to go.
