A rejuvenated Herrera

After two mediocre seasons under the Dutch manager, Herrera has blossomed into an altogether different player playing for Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese’s arrival has enabled the player to command the play and he has transcended into a complete player now.

Mourinho has used Herrera in his preferred three-man midfield with Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick. While Pogba plays a more advanced role, Carrick sits back along with Herrera. The 27 year old has rediscovered his form playing alongside the two new partners. They have been able to enhance the ability of each other while sustaining their individual performances.

A refreshing thing to watch for in the United squad is the strong Spanish contingent including the trio of David De Gea, Juan Mata, and Herrera himself. It has been easier for Herrera to communicate on the pitch as well as off of it. There is no doubt that the increase in frequency of them playing together has been a major factor in the improvement of United’s performances lately.
