Loser: Andreas Pereira

Where Fosu-Mensah has benefited from his opportunity to impress Van Gaal, Pereira has been unfortunate. The Brazilian has hardly seen any action this campaign, with his only full 90 minute match this season coming against Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup back in October.

His lessened involvement has partially been due to limited openings in the team. In what has seemed like an endless onslaught of injuries throughout the season, there has rarely been a spot available across the attacking midfield. Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and others have been healthy for much of the season.

But when he has been given a run, Pereira has failed to impress. Be it by misfortune or by inconsistency as a result of random appearances, the 20-year-old hasn’t done enough in the manager’s eyes to earn a spot in the starting squad. Unfortunately for him, Pereira may be leaving Manchester United in the summer regardless of who is leading the team.
