Manchester United: 5 Players Who Should Be Sold This Summer
4. Antonio Valencia, Midfielder/Defender
The Ecuadorian is one of the most athletic players in the Premier League. His pace, power and strength can, in certain situations, make him a real asset.
However, whether he plays on the right wing or at right-back, he does so without adventure. Far too often he takes the easy option and plays cautiously.
The 30-year-old has played almost exclusively in defence during Van Gaal’s tenure. Signed, loosely speaking, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement, he is now backup to Matteo Darmian and perhaps even Guillermo Varela.
Valencia may stay at United this summer on account of his versatility and physicality. He will probably leave, though, if United sign a right-sided winger.
