Manchester United’s squad remains unbalanced and filled with, for want of a better word, deadwood.
Manchester United are likely to undergo a summer of change, and that will involve many fringe players leaving the club. But which players should be sold?
The first problem United will encounter is that, for the moment, it’s unclear who the manager will be next season. It seems only a matter of time, however, before Jose Mourinho replaces Louis van Gaal at the club.
The Dutchman has been in charge for the last four transfer windows. In that time, he has sold or released almost twice the number of players he has bought. The end result is that United have a much more streamlined squad this season.
On the plus side, it’s meant that 22 academy players have been included in matchday squads. However, in the midst of an injury crisis, it’s cost United, who had to rely on fringe players for long periods and desperately needed more quality in the side.

It’s inevitable that United will simultaneously sign big and sell big in the summer transfer window.
There are perhaps as many as 10 players who could find themselves searching for a new club in the next few months. The likes of Nick Powell, Tyler Blackett, Victor Valdes and Sam Johnstone are all but certain to leave.
It’s therefore a question of which players currently in the first-team squad will move on this summer.
So which five individuals are among those likely to be sold?
