Manchester United fail to deliver at home against as West Ham United for Louis van Gaal
Manchester United endured another frustrating draw against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon as the Red Devils accumulated their fifth draw in Premier League this term. However, United still remain unbeaten at Old Trafford in this process.
The Red Devils started the match brightly as they bombed forward from the off but they couldn’t create any clear-cut chances.
West Ham struck the post twice and had better chances but couldn’t capitalise on United’s failure to score. United dominated possession and were wasteful in the second half as they had a lot of chances to seal the win. The team was booed at full time but lets have a look on how the players fared for Manchester United.

David De Gea (7/10)
The Spaniard showed again why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world as he denied Victor Moses in one on one duel in first half.De Gea made decent saves throughout the match as West Ham strikers hardly tested him.His distribution from the back was impressive as he tried to set the team to punish West Ham on counter with powerful punches and throws.
Matteo Darmian (6/10)
The Italian delivered a better performance as he was deployed at the left back. He kept Victor Moses and Michael Antonio quiet on his flank throughout which was one of the Hammers’ main threat. Darmian bombed ahead at times and delivered some good crosses but nobody was in the box to tap the ball home.
Chris Smalling (8/10)
The player of the season till now and Smalling proved that again. The Englishman was rock solid in the heart of the defence as he kept on winning the individual duel against Andy Caroll. The central defender almost came close to scoring a winner for his team as his effort was blocked from a late corner.
Daley Blind (7/10)
The Dutch international was composed on the ball as he tried to play those killer diagonal balls to meet the forwards. He almost brought his team trouble when he lost the ball to Moses with the latter was then in a one-on-one situation with De Gea.
Paddy McNair (6/10)
A very poor outing for the academy graduate. McNair started in the right-back role and struggled throughout against Mauro Zarate. He was also poor while going forward as he often lost the ball in the final third. He was eventually substituted at half time due to a minor knock on his knee.
Morgan Schneiderlin (6/10)
The former Saints midfielder had a quiet outing. He did well in breaking the play by intercepting important passes and making crunchy tackles. His passing often let him down before being substituted before the break due to a hip injury.
Bastian Schweinsteiger (6/10)
The German captain was a bit rusty throughout. He done his defensive duties but couldn’t contribute in the final third. He often lost the ball while trying to play an incisive pass in the final third to meet Anthony Martial. He was lucky to be on the pitch as he elbowed Winston Reid during a set-piece in first half also.

Jesse Lingard (7/10)
The 22 year-old continued his good form as he returned from a minor hamstring injury. Lingard was directas he tried to take his man on which created space for Darmian to overlap him. The wide=man should have scored his second goal for United as he drilled a shot just wide late in the second half.
Marouane Fellaini (6/10)
The tall Belgian was rewarded with a start after a good outing in midweek for U21s. Fellaini started the match on a positive note as he held the ball well and brought his team-mates into play. He got the best opportunity of the game when Anthony Martial squared a ball only for him to miss it from three yards. A mixed performance for the former Everton midfielder.
Juan Mata (5/10)
The Spaniard’s poor form continued as he was anonymous during most parts of the game. He often gave away the ball as he was beaten by the physical presence of the opponents. Mata was also handed a very good opportunity to score the winner for the team but he blazed the chance, summing up his afternoon.
Anthony Martial (7/10)
Martial was isolated upfront as his team-mates couldn’t find him when he was in promising positions. He was handed a big chance when Memphis Depay squared him the ball late in the second half which he failed to get on target. Livened up as the game progressed.
Substitutes
Michael Carrick (6/10)
The English midfielder kept things ticking in the middle of the park and tried to find the attacking players with a direct pass but often lost the possession while doing so. An average display.
Guillermo Varela (7/10)
An impressive debut for Varela as he slotted well at the right back. He won important tackles and also did well going forward.
Memphis Depay (7/10)
Depay showed his impact straight away as he played a very good ball through for Martial in the box. Showed that he wants to be a starter by working back and winning tackles.
