Mattia De Sciglio
AC Milan

At 23 years old, Mattia De Sciglio is living most Italian’s dreams by playing as the first choice full-back for AC Milan. Despite that, Manchester United should feel that they can prise him to the Premier League if needs be.

De Sciglio is just as comfortable on the left as he is on the right and that is justified by his four appearances at left-back this season and five appearances at right-back in a faltering Milan side.

While the Rossoneri have been in a downward spiral for a number of years now, van Gaal has rebuilt Manchester United into a competitive side and De Sciglio perfectly fits the mould of a van Gaal player. Conservative, good passer of the ball, tough tackler, fit and multi-functional, he would fit right in at Old Trafford under the current regime.

Any potential fee is unlikely to be too high considering Milan’s current state and with van Gaal unlikely to want to bring in too many players during the winter window, this deal would kill two birds with one stone and would be a more long-term option too.
