Ander Herrera Relishing Competition At Manchester United
Manchester United’s midfielder Ander Herrera has suggested that he is relishing the competition for places in starting XI under Louis van Gaal.
The Spaniard got his third start in the Premier League this season against Everton on Saturday and he helped the Red Devils to beat the Toffees 3-0 by scoring one and setting up the goal for Wayne Rooney in a Man of the Match performance.
Herrera joined United from Athletic Bilbao last summer and has been doing well for the Old Trafford side. United strengthened the midfield department by signing Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the summer but that has had no effect on the 26 year-old.
And the Spaniard believes competition for players will help him give his best on the pitch.
"“When you play with the best players you take advantage of that like we did. This is good for me, good for the club. I always think the same way. When the club signs top players you are going to take advantage of that and that is what I’m doing.”"
The Red Devils have two experienced players in the form of Michael Carrick and Schweinsteiger.Herrera suggested that training with such experienced players helps them in learning new things. The midfielder further added that all four of them are similar players and think the same way when they are on the pitch.
"He said, as reported by manutd.com: “You have [Schweinsteiger] and also Michael Carrick and they are very experienced guys. I think Morgan and me can learn a lot from them. I think we were very comfy and when Michael came in also the same. We are similar players. We understand football the same way.”"
Herrera insisted that he was happy with his performance against Everton and would like to continue the good form. The Spaniard missed a couple of matches due to injuries and he admitted that he worked hard during this international break to make himself available for team selection.

He further added that he will continue to work hard, as he wants to be a top player for the Red Devils.
"“I have trained really hard in these two weeks. I wanted to play as soon as possible and the manager gave me the chance. I enjoyed the chance he gave to me and I want to keep helping the team. I am a team player and when I play I will do my best.”“I scored and got an assist, so I can enjoy. I am very happy. I want to be a top player and I have to play like this always. You want to always be in the team but this is Manchester United. You have to play really good if you want to be in the team every day, so that’s what I want to do,” he added."

Herrera has become a fan favourite in a very short time at Old Trafford. Herrera admitted that people love him as he is a team player and he feels proud that he plays for Van Gaal’s side.
He will now be looking to help the side kick on as they have two crunch games against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and Manchester City in Premier League.
