When it looked like the game was heading towards a stalemate, up came John O’Shea and scored a goal which truly symbolises a smash-and-grab effort. Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick was parried away by Pepe Reina and O’Shea smashed the rebound into the back of the net, to give United the victory at Anfield in stoppage time.
