With a break in the Premier League already, attention turns to the international scene for a little while. There are plenty of Manchester United players on international duty, whether that be for the senior side or under-21’s.

With so many games going on and so many players playing it can be hard to keep up with who is in action around the world. Here is a little guide to the international break for Manchester United and who is playing who.

Thursday, September 3rd

Italy vs Malta – Matteo Darmian hopes to feature for the Azurri after his solid start to the season. The Italian defender has 13 caps, and should add to his collection against Malta. Malta have played neighbours Italy four times but never beaten them.

Netherlands vs Iceland – Daley Blind and Memphis Depay are in action in this crucial Euro qualifier against high-fliers Iceland. When they played together earlier this year, against the United States Blind had a really bad game as the Dutch threw their 3-0 lead and lost the game 4-3.

Belgium vs Bosnia & Herzegovina – Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini face Bosnia and Herzegovina who made their World Cup debut last year in Brazil. Januzaj is on loan at Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season. Belgium are battling with Wales to secure qualification to Euro 2016.

England under-21 vs USA under-23 – James Wilson is in action against the Americans, who beat England earlier this year in the Toulon tournament that Wilson also featured in. He will therefore be hoping to get some revenge by winning this rematch against a very talented US side that will be gunning for Olympic Gold in Rio next year.

Portugal vs France – Morgan Schneiderlin is in the Les Bleus squad, as is deadline-day signing Anthony Martial who is uncapped. They will face former Manchester United stars Nani and Christiano Ronaldo in this friendly. France are hosting Euro 2016 and therefore have already qualified.

Germany vs Poland – Only one Manchester United man in this one, because Bastian Schweinsteiger is the first German to play for Manchester United in a competitive match. The German legend holds 111 caps and will hope to add to that tally against Poland.

Argentina vs Bolivia – Two involved in this one, though it would have been three. But due to Angel Di Maria quitting Manchester United for PSG it is just Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo in action. Romero may face a challenge from De Gea for the United goalkeeping spot but he is number one for his country.

Faroe Islands vs Northern Ireland – Paddy McNair looks to continue his budding career with his country and could partner old Manchester United teammate Jonny Evans at the back. Evans of course now plays for West Brom. McNair made his international debut last season thanks to his United breakthrough. Northern Ireland are second in their group as it stands.

Spain vs Slovakia – The headline here is that David De Gea is still a Manchester United player. But for now he must focus on Spain, and has teammate Juan Mata with him on international duty. Both need to be at the top of their game as they face Slovakia who sit top of the group and are unbeaten.

San Marino vs England – Wayne Rooney captains the Three Lions against minnows San Marino. Also in the England squad are Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw and Michael Carrick. This should be a routine victory for England and a great opportunity for Rooney to break that England goalscoring record.

England played both in World Cup warm-up games and neither side were particularly friendly, with Valencia getting himself sent off against England. Hopefully he doesn’t do anything stupid in this one – or get injured by a physical Honduras team.
