The Reds had a kit launch at midnight on Friday night to commemorate the start of a new partnership, that is worth £750 million over ten years and will run until the 2025/26 season.
Stars such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Phil Jones and Daley Blind were all photographed in the shirt for the promo video, as United players ‘broke expectations’ with the Red Devil’s pitchfork.
Captain Wayne Rooney, new signing Memphis Depay and superstars Angel Di Maria and David De Gea were notable absentees from the promo photographs and video. Rooney and Depay are lead figures for adidas rivals Nike and Under Armour respectively, meaning they likely weren’t involved due to contractual obligations as the promo photos would have taken place while Manchester United were still a Nike brand.
While David De Gea was unlikely to be apart of the promo due to the fact he wasn’t expected to be at the club for very long anyway, Di Maria’s absence is much more noted.

The Argentine is an adidas rep and speculation has only come to light in recent weeks that he could be on the move to Paris Saint-Germain. This leads me to believe that he’s been on his way out of the club for much longer, as you’d expect adidas to use their biggest names in the promo for their biggest deal ever’s launch.
I’m not a fashion expert so I’ll leave the official website to describe the shirt for you. They say:
"“The new-look shirts include the latest in adidas lightweight and breathable technologies to ensure the players take to the pitch with the most innovative kit design ever. The new home kit, which will be debuted in the opening game of the season at Old Trafford, features a classic v-neck collar and three-stripe design down the shoulder. There is also a graphic design on the hem of the shirt taken from the 1990 shirt famously worn by Ryan Giggs in his debut season.”"
Here are some more photos of the players in the new shirt, which has gone down very well on Social Media.
Manchester United will wear the new home kit for the first time next Saturday in the opening Premier League fixture of the season against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
