Radamel Falcao ‘unhappy’ at United claims mother
Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is ‘unhappy’ at Old Trafford after failing to net a regular starting spot under Louis van Gaal this season, according to his mother.
Falcao, 29, signed for United in the summer for a season long-loan but has failed to show any of the form that earned him his best career move in club football.
The Colombian international is one of the best strikers in the world and only 18 months ago was he the most feared. However, a massive injury to his knee ligaments in the opening months of 2014 halted his upward spiralling career and it meant he had to miss seven months of action. It was a career changing moment and it forced the forward to miss the World Cup where his country achieved an unexpected quarter-final – where they lost to hosts Brazil.

Falcao was expected to lead the line for the South American side and rushed his comeback so he could be fit in time. That then left him available to play in the Emirates Club for parent club Monaco and he netted against Arsenal. His move to United was then completed on deadline day in August for £6million.
But since then the striker has failed to live up to expectations, making less than 15 starts for the Red Devils this season. And now with the season coming to an and, his mother Carmenza Zarate has admitted the 29 year-old is disappointed with how the last 12 months have gone.
"She told El Espectador, as reported by Manchester Evening news, “Not everything has been easy in Falcao’s life.”“He has had some difficult moments in his career, particularly his injuries. They have slowed his progress and prevented him participating in important competitions like the World Cup in Brazil or have confined him to the bench, like in Manchester.“However, I am certain everything has a sense in life, even if it’s sometimes tough.“I often remind him that after a test or a difficulty, blessings arrive. We hope for bigger and better things. God hasn’t abandoned us, and so I’m sure that my son will become again what he has always been, a goal-scorer.”"
Falcao has netted just four times this season and comparing that to his form at Monaco, Atletico Madrid and FC Porto, the Colombian is performing well under par.
A lot of fans have been quick to back Falcao, with his playing style not being suited to the way United play. Falcao is a proper number nine and likes to get chances in the box which he converted aplenty at his former club. But nonetheless his mother believes he has to accept the way manager Louis van Gaal prepares his side.
"“Even if he’s unhappy not to be in the starting XI, he has to accept the coach’s decisions in a professional manner. He leaves the rest in the hands of God.”“We have to respect Van Gaal as a coach and his method of working,”“I don’t think it’s something personal with Falcao, because he also does it with Angel Di Maria and Robin van Persie. It’s his way of working, and you have to respect it. He has to deliver results for Manchester United and we’ll see whether he achieves that.”"
Falcao is set to have his future decided by the end of the month and United could still keep the forward. With his transfer fee a monstrous £43million, the Red Devils could opt to keep him on loan until January with Champions League football on the offering next season. But they may have trouble persuading him to stay if a big club comes in for him with his goalscoring record proven across Europe added Zarate.
"“Falcao has nothing to prove to the media, to Van Gaal, to anybody. He knows what he can do as a footballer and that there is a good reason he has got to Manchester United. We have to wait and take things as they come.“It’s not a normal situation given what he has experienced in his career, but it happens in football.“If God shows him a new path, he’ll leave Manchester. If not, he’ll stay.”"
