Here is the latest edition of Reds on Reddit; and as usual the story in short is we take a look at what is being said on Reddit and try to put an opinion of their opinion. Simple as that. Let’s go.

“We lack creativity in midfield while Juan Mata is sitting on the bench…” (from ariaobama)
It is a shame to see the £37 million man sitting on the bench every week; because he is extremely talented and a real hard working player.
It is true at times, especially with Fellaini playing, that creativity is hard to come by in the United team. Mata, like Herrera, offers that creativity with a much more potent threat going forwards too. It seems a waste of not just talent, but also money too. Why pay so much and not use him?

When the team lacks that creative spark, Mata could be the key to unlocking it. Herrera’s substitution was a decsive one in undermining the United performance and van Gaal should have seen this and bought Mata on in an attempt to fix it. This should the be the plan for most games rather than gamble on Januzaj who can be naive and anonymous or “Plan B” Fellaini who can either be the impact the team need or the exact opposite.
For now it seems, Juan Mata must wait until his next opportunity. Whenever that will be.
“If he (Welbeck) had still played for United and scored 4 in 17 people would have been talking about him as they are talking about Falcao now” (from motown_philly)
Falcao has been the shoulder for most of the blame this season, and while he is definitely deserving of some of it, not everything can be blamed squarely on him. He has struggled and his future is in doubt much like the situation Danny Welbeck found himself in at the start of the season hence his move away from Old Trafford in search of more first team opportunities.
Welbeck has been far from prolific in his first season as an Arsenal player but has escaped the spotlight compared to his replacement at United. Falcao has been unable to reproduce his ferocious form of previous seasons, consequently he has been subject to most of the talk surrounding United this season.
Both players made the move for differing reasons and so far it looks as though Welbeck made the right choice leaving, and Falcao made the wrong one.
“De Gea deserves better” (from TurboCider)
The Spanish goalkeeper proved yet again why he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League against Arsenal, despite conceding twice. The second goal was a needless back-pass that wasn’t his fault; it was Valencia’s for playing it to him.
Looking at the season as a whole though; De Gea is without a doubt the star man this season and with every passing game comes increasing speculation about a move to Real Madrid which he has been linked with for so long. He has been the standout performer, because of the teams inability to offer him any protection or reassurances that he is the last line of defence, not the only one.
In terms of the defence he has in front of him, he does deserve better. Rojo is a great player and Shaw is showing signs of improvement after a shaky start to his career at the club. The fact that De Gea never knows who will be playing in front of him compounds his problems even further. He has seen a host of different defensive combinations this season and there are likely to be more changes in the summer.
Whether one of those changes is De Gea himself, it isn’t clear just yet.
