Man United linked Victor Osimhen hints at transfer after Serie A triumph
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has hinted that he may be open to a move this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs linked with the Nigerian. Osimhen enjoyed a standout 2022-23 season, scoring 27 goals across all competitions, including one that helped Napoli clinch their first Serie A title since the days of Diego Maradona. Speaking after the title triumph, Osimhen said he intends to celebrate before deciding on his future, but suggested that he could be ready for a new challenge in a different league.
Reflecting on his experience in Italy, the 22-year-old told DAZN that he will “forever be grateful” to the country and the league for helping him improve his game as a striker. He credited Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti and his staff for giving him the confidence to score goals and grow as a player. Osimhen also spoke about the emotions he felt during Napoli’s title-winning campaign, saying it was a day he and the club’s supporters will never forget.
Osimhen’s comments will be of interest to several top clubs around Europe, including Manchester United, who are reportedly looking for a striker this summer. The Red Devils have been linked with several players, but Osimhen’s impressive form in Serie A has put him on their radar. However, it remains to be seen whether Napoli will be willing to part with their star striker, who is under contract with the club until 2026.
For now, Osimhen is focused on celebrating Napoli’s title triumph with his teammates and the club’s supporters. He said winning the Scudetto was a “fantastic emotion” and the “greatest satisfaction” of his life. Osimhen’s performances this season have also earned him a call-up to Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, where he will hope to help his country defend their title.
