Manchester United are keen on bringing reinforcements for their midfield in the summer transfer window with Borussia Dortmund‘s Jude Bellingham and Barcelona‘s Frenkie de Jong made the two primary targets.

Despite Barcelona being banned to make any transfers in the summer for failing to comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play regulations, President Joan Laporta remains optimistic that the club will not need to sell their top talents in order to raise funds. While United boss Erik ten Hag remains keen on reuniting with his former Ajax midfielder at Old Trafford, Barca manager Xavi has made De Jong nontransferable.

While the Red Devils are evaluating scouting the market for multiple midfielders, Bellingham remains the only other favorite. Dortmund boss Edin Terzic recently opened up about the 19-year-old being linked with a move to Old Trafford but a new European giant has entered the race.

Manchester United target made top priority by Real Madrid

Yesterday, Chelsea defeated Dortmund in the Champions League Round-of-16 but that was not the only blow suffered by the Bundesliga giants. Journalist Santi Aouna tweeted that the 19-year-old’s father met with the head of recruitment for Real Madrid, Juni Calafat in London.

While many believe this to be a sign that the Los Blancos are nearing a potential deal for the youngster, Fabrizio Romano revealed that it was normal and that Bellingham’s father holds similar meetings every week to discuss his son’s future and that the midfielder himself is yet to finalize a decision.

"“It’s absolutely normal to meet when directors are traveling for Champions League. Bellingham’s father is holding meetings every week, same for Borussia director Sebastian Kehl. The crucial point is Bellingham’s decision, and this hasn’t been made yet.” said Fabrizio RomanoSource Caught Offside"
