Manchester United closing in on promising Bundesliga defender
Manchester United are set to get new owners who are prepared to spend big in the summer transfer window in order to be on good terms with the fans. With a potentially massive budget for transfers, the Premier League giants are preparing a shortlist to bolster the squad in multiple positions.
One such position the club looks to improve on is the right-back role with the Red Devils prepared to use their coach Erik ten Hag’s relationship with Dutch players in order to find good deals in the market.
The Manchester side have greatly benefitted from the arrival of the former Ajax boss who poached both Lisandro Martínez and Antony from his former club.
Manchester United to use Erik ten Hag’s relationship to sign Bundesliga prospect
Caught Offside reports that Bayer Leverkusen youngster Jeremie Frimpong is nearing a move to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old has been in great form this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists in 31 appearances this season, attracting many European clubs.
BILD reporter Christian Falk revealed that United are heavily interested in signing the right-back to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the 25-year-old being linked with an exit in the summer.
"“Jeremie Frimpong is getting closer and closer to a United move. Frimpong was also a topic in Winter – United really wanted him then, You know, he’s a Dutch player and his connection to Erik ten Hag is very close. There should have been talks.”“So, you see now that Ten Hag is performing well with his team and has good arguments for Frimpong and for United in terms of fulfilling his wish. I think he’s one of Ten Hag’s main targets for the summer.”"
After the 7-0 loss to Liverpool, Ten Hag will be looking to bring reinforcements in the summer to add much-needed depth to this United squad with Frimpong potentially being a valuable signing.
