After making an emphatic comeback against West Ham in the F.A. Cup fifth-round, Manchester United travel to Anfield in a ‘Clash of the Reds’ encounter to face rivals, Liverpool.

This is one of the most-anticipated matches on the footballing calendar because of not only the history between these two sides but when they meet, there’s always something at stake. This time, it would be Liverpool who will aim to finish top four while United will look to stay on course for a potential late title challenge.

Manchester United made an epic comeback in their last match which was in the F.A. Cup against The Hammerers who suffered a third successive exit from that stage of the competition. Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag’s Reds edged closer to another Wembley final after clinching the EFL Cup last week.

Said Benrahma’s goal gave the visitors a slender lead after half-time but West Ham soon initiated their self-destructive mode as new signing Nayef Aguerd headed home an own goal levelling the scores. Teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho curled in a goal past goalkeeper Alphonse Areola in the last minute of regulation time and Fred nipped in one in added time to seal the game in favour of Manchester United.

After their shocking loss against Wolves in mid-February, Liverpool seemed to be back on form as they won two games in a row. A two-goal lead apparently seemed enough for the Anfield dwellers to cement a sustainable lead over Real Madrid in the first leg of the UCL Round of 16 but soon their hopes were silenced. Real Madrid did what they do best. 5 goals were rounded in by Los Blancos as The Reds went down in humiliation. A draw to Crystal Palace didn’t help their efforts to finish in the top four but they were clinical enough to take revenge upon Wolves in their last fixture.

United will hope for a reversal of the result earlier this year at Old Trafford which resulted in a 2-1 victory for Ten Hag’s men but Jurgen Klopp will rally hard to get some results in as to not miss out on European football next season.
