Manchester United are in desperate need of a prolific striker. The injury crisis to Anthony Martial forced Erik ten Hag to make winger Marcus Rashford take the striker’s role while also loaning Wout Weghorst in the January transfer window.

While Rashford has been in terrific form this season, scoring 25 goals and providing 9 assists in 39 appearances, the Dutch boss knows the importance of having an additional goalscorer in his squad; especially with Champions League football next season.

The Red Devils are scouting the market to not only find a big-name signing but also upcoming talents with Tottenham Hotspur‘s Harry Kane, RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko, and AS Roma duo’s Tommy Abraham and Paulo Dybala all linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United target opens up about Premier League interest

One of the top transfer targets set by Ten Hag is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has been in terrific form this season, having scored 21 goals and provided 4 assists in 25 appearances. The Nigerian international is leading the goalscorer ladder in Serie A and has garnered the attention of many European giants, especially from Premier League sides like Chelsea and United.

While Napoli are reluctant about selling their superstar, they have placed a £100 million pricetag on the 24-year-old. The forward remains focused on the task at hand this season with the Italian giants but recently opened up about his potential move to the Premier League.

"“I think it is an ambition of all players [moving to Premier League]. And who knows, one day. Right now, I assure you, it doesn’t even cross my mind. It would distract me from a beautiful season. [I’m thinking of] only Napoli.” Osimhen told Corriere della SeraSource Goal"

It remains to be seen which striker Ten Hag decides to chase after but the Nigerian striker remains on top of the list.
