Manchester United fringe defender Victor Lindelof is reportedly part of La Liga side Sevilla’s shopping list in the summer.

According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla who are experiencing a drastic downhill season will aim to rebuild the team in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club’s sporting director Monchi is revered for his outgoing approach when signing players and he has identified Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof as a potential target.

The Swedish defender is a top-level centre-back but has occasionally been used by new manager Erik Ten Hag. The 28-year-old has featured 20 times this season in all competitions till now, and that includes most in the secondary tournaments like the Europa League and EFL Cup. With only 1382 minutes (Transfermarkt) of gameplay this term, a player of his calibre is expected to look for much brighter pastures in the future.

Though interest from the Andalucians is in the primary stages and no significant approach has been made as they scan the market for more opportunities. Lindelof has fared well whenever he has played and under Manchester United’s new manager, he isn’t getting any number of chances soon.

The signings of two World Cup-winning defenders Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have become the primary defensive stronghold for The Reds and their performances have even sidelined club captain Harry Maguire from the regular picture. It doesn’t seem like Lindelof can ever hit the level of the two high-profile defenders currently dominating the region and therefore he knows that he can perform and grow somewhere else well.

Monchi is a master of making these kinds of signings. The value of the Swedish International has dropped significantly in the last three years and now is around 15 million euros. Sevilla will certainly look to capitalise on this opportunity and take home a proven rock-solid defender within their ranks.
