Manchester United have strengthened in a lot of areas of the pitch coming out of what was a great summer transfer window for them. But one area that remains pretty weak is up front. Marcus Rashford has done a good job there when he has featured but one has to question whether he is a long-term solution at striker. Also, throughout his career, the Englishman has dealt with inconsistency.

If Manchester United are to compete for the Premier League title, they need to have a player who can score consistently like the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. It is pretty clear that while Cristiano Ronaldo could have filled that role once upon a time, he is no longer that man.

So, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United do end up adding to their options at striker when the transfer window reopens in January.

It looks like they are very much open to the prospect of it. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said regarding the matter:

"“United do not have an obvious goalscorer at this moment in time that can compete with Kane and Haaland and Salah and the like. So yes, they are still open to signing a forward.”"

Manchester United are open to signing a striker in January

While Manchester United are believed to be open to the prospect of signing a striker in January, it must be said that it feels unlikely that they will splash out to do so.

It is already believed that they spent over their budget in the summer after they considered an emergency situation, following the disastrous start that the Red Devils had made to the campaign, losing against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in convincing fashion in the very first two games of the Premier League season.

Thus, if Manchester United do end up signing a striker in January, it will be very interesting to see who it is. It is hard to think of anyone who can compete with the likes of Kane and Haaland, that they could realistically bring in in the middle of the season.
