Manchester United’s summer transfer window did not get to the best start possible but the Red Devils did manage to recover late on, and the board must be applauded for backing Erik ten Hag. This summer, they have brought in key players like Casemiro, Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Martin Dubravka. All of them could have key roles to play this season.

Manchester United have shown improvement on the pitch as well, as they have won three games on the trot and are on the rise in the Premier League table.

Thus, things are looking up for the Red Devils finally, but not for everyone at the club. Phil Jones has not been a regular feature in Manchester United’s first-team squad for some time now and it looks like things might not get any better under the management of Ten Hag.

As reported by The Sun, Jones has been kicked out of Manchester United’s training ground dressing room in order to make space for Ten Hag’s new signings. A few others like Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi, Alex Tuanzebe and Shola Shoretire are also believed to have been sent to the Under-23 changing room.

This does go on to show the standing of those players in the pecking order in Ten Hag’s squad at this point of time.

Jones was not expected to be a regular feature in this team anyway. He has struggled with injuries for a while now and there are several players ahead of him in the centre-back queue like Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Martinez, Victor Lindelof and arguably Mengi and Tuanzebe themselves.

It is sad to see how Jones’ Manchester United has unfolded. He joined the club in 2011 and at that point of time, was expected to be the next big thing in English football. Now at 30 years, it is hard to see any Premier League taking a chance on him, even when he does eventually depart Old Trafford.
