A lot of questions have been raised about David de Gea and his suitability to Erik ten Hag’s style of football over the last few days. The Spaniard enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 campaign and was one of Manchester United’s standout players, but once again, there seem to be doubts over his future. It remains to be seen how things turn out from here.

It does look like Manchester United are looking to improve their options in goal though, having let Dean Henderson leave on loan to Nottingham Forest in the summer.

The club are already believed to have held talks with Newcastle United over a potential move for Martin Dubravka, who has fallen behind Nick Pope in the pecking order. Another goalkeeper that they have been linked with recently is Kevin Trapp, but it does not seem like that move is on the table.

As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have made an official offer to another goalkeeper and Eintracht Frankfurt bosses expect Trapp to stay:

Trapp to Manchester United transfer update

Trapp could have been an excellent addition to this Manchester United team, especially since it looks like they are not looking to make a glamorous addition in goal but instead someone who is reliable and will give De Gea a run for his money.

Trapp might not be a huge name but he has played at a pretty high level. He has appeared for the German national team and has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt, even helping them to the UEFA Europa League title last season. He was Paris Saint-Germain’s number one at one point of time as well.

But, it looks like a move for Trapp is not on the cards for Manchester United. It remains to be seen who they end up signing though, with merely a week left in the transfer window.
