Manchester United were handed a massive boost as they managed to bounce back from their defeats in the first two games of the campaign and handed Liverpool a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford to bring their season back on track. While things might not have been looking rosy a few days back, the reality of the situation is that they are a point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side and just one behind Chelsea.
But Manchester United cannot rest on their laurels. Casemiro will come into this team but they need more.
One player that the Red Devils have been heavily linked with in recent months is Antony, who shined under the management of Erik ten Hag at Ajax and the manager is believed to be keen on a reunion.
And there is good news for Manchester United in that regard as well, as Antony seems to be keen on joining the Red Devils by leaving Ajax. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Dharmesh Sheth said:
"“The feeling is that he wants to leave Ajax and he wants to go to Manchester United.“He knows Erik ten Hag very, very well. He wants to reunite. It just will now come down to whether Manchester United can raise that price.”"
Antony wants Manchester United move this summer
Antony has been exceptional for Ajax in recent times, both in Europe and in domestic competitions in the Netherlands.
Thus, someone like him could be a very good addition to Ten Hag’s side. But at the same time, one has to recognise that Ajax are looking for a huge transfer fee to part ways with the Brazilian. Rumours suggest that a bid of even €80 million might not be enough to pursued them into parting ways with the winger.
The fact that Antony seems to want to join Manchester United is a massive boost though and could help the club in their pursuit of the winger.
There is just over a week left in the summer transfer window though and if things drag on, the Red Devils will need to move their eyes elsewhere. Cody Gakpo is a player they have been linked with in recent days.
