Manchester United have had a tough time in this summer transfer window, largely because of the fact that they do not have Champions League football to offer and the club have been nowhere near their best for almost a decade now as well. They will need to make more additions though, if new manager, Erik ten Hag, is to have a chance of making his first season at Old Trafford a success.

Till now, Manchester United have succeeded in signing Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. The Red Devils are also believed to have been chasing a move for Frenkie de Jong all summer, but that has led nowhere.

Now, it looks like they might have shifted their eyes towards other targets as well and one of the names on their radar appears to be that of Adrien Rabiot. The Juventus midfielder could be on his way out of Turin this summer, a move to Old Trafford is looking like a real possibility.

As reported by The Athletic (via Mirror), a recruitment meeting was held with key members of the Manchester United hierarchy earlier this week before football director, John Murtough, flew to Turin. While the club are yet to reach a full agreement with Rabiot, both parties are believed to be on the same page and expect a deal to be struck next week.

Manchester United could strike fourth deal of the summer next week

If Manchester United are able to sign Rabiot, it would be a much needed addition in the middle of the park, an area which has been viewed as a weakness for a few years and has been further weakened this summer following the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

At the same time though, there are huge question marks over Rabiot. A lot of people feel that he is not good enough to make an impact at Manchester United. And his performances for Juventus over the years have left a lot to be desired.

Still, it is believed that a €17 million transfer fee would be enough for Manchester United to sign Rabiot and thus, there is not a huge amount of risk involved in the deal.
