Manchester United will kick off their Premier League campaign at Old Trafford against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Red Devils are starting a new era under Erik ten Hag and will surely be looking to get all three points on the day to begin on the right foot. Of course, that is easier said than done, as Graham Potter’s side are more than capable of holding their own against any team in the Premier League, on their day.

Manchester United had made a bright start to pre-season but appeared to stumble in the last few games. Also, they have an injury worry going into the game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

As reported by Sky Sports, Ten Hag has confirmed Anthony Martial is out of Sunday’s game through injury.

Manchester United do not have much depth up front though and Martial had been one of the best performers for the Red Devils in pre-season. Thus, it will be very interesting who ends up playing at striker against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester United handed major worry ahead of first game of the season

While Martial is set to miss the season opener through injury, there are question marks over Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

Ronaldo missed the majority of pre-season and has very little football under his belt in this new campaign. On the other hand, there are also question marks about whether he will stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.

Thus, we are already handed with an interesting storyline going into the game against Potter’s side.

Manchester United have not had the easiest of times against The Seagulls in recent years and it will be interesting to see how they perform this time around, in Ten Hag’s first competitive game in charge of the club.

A win would give the fans a lot of confidence but anything other than that, and worries will start to grow already.
