The striker situation at Manchester United is a worry at this point of time. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is still up in the air with it unclear whether he will be staying or not. On the other hand, Edinson Cavani left in the summer at he end of his contract with the Red Devils. And while Anthony Martial has shown a lot of promise in pre-season, it would be a risk to rely on him to be the main main up front through the campaign.

As a result, it would make sense for Manchester United to go for a striker this summer, even though most of the recent rumours have surrounded Frenkie de Jong and Antony.

One name which appears to have emerged on the radar in recent weeks though is that of Benjamin Sesko of RB Salzburg.

Sesko is just 19 years of age and put in a stunning performance against Liverpool in pre-season, which has attracted a lot of attention. And as reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano said about the current situation at Manchester United:

"“Of course, they need to clarify the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo before understanding who will be the right man.“But Sesko is one of the top names they have on the list. Not the only one, but he’s one of the players that they are following. And so, we will see if they will bid this week for Benjamin Sesko.”"

Manchester United could make bid for 19-year-old striker

It is not hard to see why Sesko has been linked with Erling Haaland. It is not just the RB Salzburg connection. Both have similar physical attributes as well. And as a result, there are a lot of high expectations surrounding the Slovenian striker already.

Rumours have suggested though that RB Salzburg are looking for a transfer fee around £55 million in order to part ways with Sesko.

Shelling out anywhere near that figure for Sesko would represent a major risk though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists in 37 appearances for RB Salzburg last season.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United do actually end up making a transfer bid for Sesko in the near future.
