Manchester United have been linked with a long list of players in recent times. One of them is Ajax’s Brazilian winger, Antony. He was a particular standout under the management of Erik ten Hag last season, showing his quality not only in the domestic competitions in the Netherlands but also in Europe in the UEFA Champions League.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United might be keen to reunite him with his former manager. But it will not be easy to get done at all.

Ajax have already let a few of their top players leave this summer, including Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United. Thus, they are not expected to be under huge pressure to part ways with Antony anytime soon.

Thus, rumours have suggested that the Dutch giants are looking for a huge transfer fee for Antony this summer, who has also been linked with Chelsea recently. But as reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano said about the situation:

"“They are interested but not at Ajax’s conditions as of now. So they know Ajax are asking for more than €80m, €80m guaranteed plus add-ons to arrive to maybe 85, 90, 95, so it’s definitely not an easy one. It’s definitely not an easy one.”"

Fabrizio delivers update on situation involving Antony, Ajax and Manchester United

Antony was one of Ajax’s best players last season, as they enjoyed a brilliant campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Also, Antony is just 22 years of age and has plenty of room to develop further. Thus, if Manchester United are able to sign him, it has the potential to be a major coup for years to come.

Of course, it is going to be very difficult to do so, considering the transfer fee that Ajax appear to be looking for. It would be a massive risk as well, for a player who is not proven in a top five European league. Thus, it might be a good idea for the Red Devils to look towards other options as well.
