Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United’s top target
Manchester United have already made a few good signings this summer. One would hope that Lisandro Martinez will be the one to finally solve their problems in defence. On the other hand, Tyrell Malacia could be a solid addition at left-back, another position that has been a worry for the club. And we all know how good Christian Eriksen can be when on top of his game.
Manchester United still need more signings though, if they are to have any chance of competing with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool any time soon.
And one area that they need additions is going forward, where they surprisingly struggled last season, despite having some incredible names on their squad.
It remains to be seen who they end up signing this summer to boost their ranks going forward, if they indeed do make a signing there. Antony seems to be a top target for the club though. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano said about the situation:
"“Antony has always been a top target, but Ajax have already sold many important players and the last one was to Manchester United – Lisandro Martinez, of course.“This is why, at the moment, it is not easy to negotiate with Ajax.”"
Manchester United want to sign Ajax star but it won’t be easy to get a deal done
It is no surprise that Manchester United are being linked with so many of Ajax’s players or those who have played for the Dutch club in the past, thanks to the Erik ten Hag connection.
Someone like Antony could be a very good addition for the Red Devils. He shined under the management of Ten Hag last season, both in domestic competitions and in Europe. He is just the kind of player who can make something happen going forward and that is something that Manchester United seemed to lack last season.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Antony scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 appearances last season.
It is believed that Ajax could look for a transfer fee around €70 million to part ways with the Brazilian winger this summer.
