Manchester United have verbally agreed huge transfer fee
Manchester United have been linked with a number of players this summer but they have not had the easiest of times when it comes to getting deals over the line. That is not hard to understand either, as the Red Devils have not won a trophy in five seasons now and do not even have Champions League football to offer this season. Till now, their only signing has been Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
Erik ten Hag will need to strengthen the squad significantly more though, if Manchester United are to have any chance of challenging for titles next season.
One player who has been linked with the club for a long time now is FC Barcelona midfield maestro, Frenkie de Jong, and now, it looks like the Red Devils have finally made some progress in their attempts to sign him.
As tweeted out by Alex Crook, Manchester United have verbally agreed with Barcelona over a transfer fee of £56 million plus add-ons and De Jong is open to move:

De Jong had enjoyed his breakout season at Ajax when they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League some years back under the management of Ten Hag.
He would soon leave Ajax for Barcelona but his career has appeared to stagnate there. As a result, the Dutch international could be benefited from a move away from Camp Nou and it is not hard to see why a reunion with Ten Hag at Old Trafford might be an attractive option.
Ten Hag exactly knows how to get the best out of De Jong and rumours have suggested that he might be looking to build his Manchester United side around the midfielder. Now, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can finally bring an end to the long-running transfer saga. The signs are looking positive.
