Erik ten Hag is expected to ring in the changes at Manchester United. The Dutch manager will be aiming to take the Red Devils back to the top, after the club have finished five straight seasons without a single piece of silverware. He has an exceptional record from his time at Ajax, re-established them as the top team in the Netherlands and guided them to a Champions League semi-finals a few years back, but this is going to be a whole different ball game for him.

Manchester United will surely need to strengthen over the course of the summer to give Ten Hag the best chance of success.

One area of the pitch where they will need to strengthen is up front. Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are on their way out at the end of their respective contracts. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have not impressed in a while. Jadon Sancho had an underwhelming debut season. And Cristiano Ronaldo is not getting any better, despite having a decent campaign last time around.

As reported by GOAL, Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Antony, as the Ajax star is determined to be reunited with Ten Hag. The Red Devils have held informal discussions over the Brazilian but are yet to make an offer for him.

Manchester United handed boost in their chase for Ajax star

Antony has been brilliant for Ajax in recent times, impressing both in domestic competition and in Europe.

If the club are able to sign the Brazilian winger, it would be considered as a major coup on their part. Of course, Ajax are not expected to be keen to let him go but have a history of parting ways with players if the right offer comes in. That should be cause for optimism for Manchester United in the pursuit of Antony.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Antony scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 appearances last season.
