Paul Pogba is set to leave Manchester United on a free transfer for the second time in his career, with his contract set to run out soon. And it looks like in a repeat of history, he could be headed to Juventus once again, the club where he played the best football of his career, which convinced the Red Devils to shatter the then world record to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016.

Back then, it had looked like Manchester United had rectified one of the biggest mistakes in the club’s history and Pogba was expected to go on to become one of the best players in the world.

It has not quite worked out like that. Pogba has never hit the heights that he was expected to and while he has shown flashes of brilliance here and there, ultimately, his second spell at Manchester United has been a major disappointment.

Pogba seems to be intent on proving the club wrong though. As reported by The Athletic, while speaking in his new Amazon Prime documentary named The Pogmentary, the French World Cup winner said:

"“My thought process is to show Manchester (United) that they made a mistake in waiting to give me a contract.“And to show other clubs that Manchester had made a mistake in not offering me a contract.”"

It would not be a stretch to say that the time had come for the player and the club to part ways. Manchester United are looking set to move in a different direction under Erik ten Hag. On the other hand, after several underwhelming years at Old Trafford, Pogba could do with a change of scenery as well.

It was an up-and-down second spell at the club to say the least for the Frenchman, as he established himself as one of the most polarising figures in world football.

On top of his game, he was one of the best midfielders in all of Europe, which he consistently showed while playing for the French national team. But in a Manchester United jersey, it just never quite clicked on a consistent basis.
