Journalist makes huge Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Manchester United claim
The Manchester United midfield will definitely need a rebuild this summer. The likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are on their way out of the club, leaving huge gaps in the middle of the park. That was an area already considered as a weakness for the Red Devils and now, it has been furthered weakened with these departures. It is safe to say that these gaps will need to be filled if Erik ten Hag is to have any chance of succeeding at Old Trafford.
When it comes to midfield, two of the names who have been most heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United in recent times are that of Frenkie de Jong and Ruben Neves.
But another player that the club should consider is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A for years now and linked with several top clubs, without a move ever materialising. Rumours have suggested though that Maurizio Sarri could be ready to let him leave this time around.
Manchester United have been touted as a possible destination and Pete O’Rourke believes that Sergej would jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said:
"“I think he’s proved himself in Italy; he’s played at the highest level in Serie A. He’s had a really good season this year under Maurizio Sarri.“I think Lazio are sort of wary and expecting offers for him this summer, and I think if they do come calling, Manchester United, I’m sure the player would jump at the opportunity of going there. His goals and assists record has been pretty good, so it’s something that he could bring to the Manchester United midfield next season if he is to arrive.”"
Sergej to Manchester United claim made by journalist
Manchester United could definitely do with someone with the quality of Sergej in the middle of the park. He has been exceptional for Lazio for years, including this season.
But at the moment, it looks like the club are more interested in reuniting Ten Hag with De Jong, with the two enjoying great success together during their time at Ajax, even reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League a few years back.
Thus, a move for Sergej looks a bit unlikely right now, although, the door could open back up if a move for De Jong failed to materialise.
