Manchester United will have to pay €100 million transfer fee for star
Manchester United are being linked with a number of players in recent weeks and months as it is expected that the Red Devils’ squad will have to undergo a major overhaul over the course of the summer transfer window. They have finished five straight seasons without a single piece of silverware and it is time for change. Hopefully, Erik ten Hag will be the man to bring that change.
Ten Hag did an incredible job at Ajax during his time as the manager of the club, turning them back into the dominant team in the Netherlands while also making incredible progress in Europe, even reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals a few years back against all odds.
One of the key components of the Ajax team that had reached the final four of Europe’s elite competition, a stage that Manchester United have not reached for a long time, was Frenkie de Jong. And the Red Devils are being linked heavily with the Dutch international midfielder at the moment.
It will not be easy to sign him from Barcelona though. As reported by SPORT, the La Liga giants will not let De Jong go for less than €100 million, either fixed or with some variables.
Manchester United will have to shell out huge transfer fee to sign the midfielder
Reuniting Ten Hag with De Jong would make a lot of sense for both the manager and the player. The midfielder has been at Barcelona for a while now but has never managed to develop into one of the best in Europe like he was expected to.
We have seen though that Ten Hag knows exactly how to get the best out of De Jong. But it will not be easy to bring him to Old Trafford.
At the same time, one also has to consider the fact that Manchester United have failed to qualify for the Champions League and as a result, would De Jong even be interested in a move?
