Erik ten Hag will be the man tasked with taking Manchester United back to the top next season as he is going to be the club’s next permanent manager. And it is safe to say that the Dutchman will have his work cut out for him, as the Red Devils have not won a single trophy in five seasons and will not finish this Premier League campaign higher than sixth.

Thus, it is pretty safe to say that a squad rebuild is needed at Manchester United. And one of the areas that needs it most immediately is their midfield.

The middle of the park has been viewed as a weakness for Manchester United for a long time now but they just have not added there, despite being linked with a series of midfielders in recent years.

Now, they are being linked with one of the biggest superstars in the game. As reported by the Mirror, Ten Hag is targeting Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante as a signing for Manchester United. He believes that the French World Cup winner still has the ability to help his young stars next season.

Ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Kante

Kante has been one of the best midfielders of his generation without a shadow of a doubt, if not the very best. Even last season, there were calls for him to be crowned the Ballon d’Or winner, after guiding Chelsea to the Champions League.

But this season, questions have been raised about his form and ability, as he has appeared to struggled to recapture his best.

Kante has been dealing with a series of injuries for quite a few seasons now, and finally, they seem to be taking their toll on the Frenchman, a large part of whose game is based on athleticism and stamina. Thus, many would question whether signing him would be a step in the right direction at this stage.

Of course, all of this is before taking into account whether Chelsea would be willing to let him go or not.
