Manchester United receive Victor Osimhen transfer blow
Manchester United are in need of a striker. It is fair to say that the club’s forward department has massively underdelivered in the 2021/22 season. Despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus in the summer, and having the likes of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford in their ranks, the Red Devils have not managed to find the back of the net consistently, which is a massive surprise to be honest.
Having returned to Manchester United, Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in 30 appearances, according to stats from Transfermarkt. With the chances he has gotten throughout the season, he could’ve scored more and those numbers are not good enough for someone many consider the greatest of all time.
Thus, there are doubts over his future at Old Trafford. And the situation could get even more complicated, with Cavani also expected to leave and who knows where Anthony Martial will play next season.
As a result, it would not be a huge surprise if Manchester United try to sign a new striker next summer and they have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen recently. But there is a problem there as well.
Manchester United receive blow in Osimhen transfer chase
As reported by Daily Star, Manchester United have been priced out of a summer move for Osimhen, who Napoli are believed to value at a transfer fee around £100million.
Since joining Napoli from Lille, the 23-year-old has impressed with his goalscoring abilities and other traits, suggesting the making of a potential world-class player.
He is not only a target man but also a brilliant runner off the ball, who can fend off defenders with his pace. Thus, signing someone like Osimhen would add a different dimension to this Manchester United forward line but it looks like that won’t be happening as it would require the Red Devils to shatter their transfer record.
