Manchester United will look to bring in a permanent manager next summer. That is no secret. Ralf Rangnick is in the Old Trafford hot seat in an interim role right now and is expected to take on a consultancy role at the end of the season. And it is safe to say that the Red Devils need to bring someone in, who can guide them to titles, as they appear to be headed towards their fifth straight trophyless campaign, unless they end up winning the Champions League.
As a result, the club have been linked with some top managers. But the two names which appear to be leading the race for the Manchester United job are that of Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
Both of them are managing other clubs right now though. Pochettino is at Paris Saint-Germain while Ten Hag is with Ajax. Thus, there might be hurdles in bringing them to Old Trafford.
As reported by ESPN, Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a short-term option for Manchester United, who are exploring contingency plans in their chase for a new manager.
Manchester United surprisingly linked with Ancelotti
There is no doubt about the fact that Ancelotti is one of the best managers in recent footballing history. He has enjoyed tremendous success at clubs like AC Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and others, over the years.
And just when it had started to look like his managerial career was fizzling away a little bit, he is back firmly in the spotlight, in his second stint at Real Madrid.
There have been rumours though that Los Blancos could show him the Santiago Bernabeu exit at the end of the season. If that was to happen, then it would open the door for Manchester United, to potentially bring the Italian legend to Old Trafford.
