Manchester United planning move for brilliant Liverpool target
Manchester United are expected to bring in a new manager in the summer, when Ralf Rangnick’s interim run in the managerial hot seat comes to an end. But just change in management is not expected to be enough to turn their fortunes. The club will need to bring in new players as well and freshen up their squad, which has been underdelivering for a while now. Thus, the next summer transfer window can be very interesting for the Red Devils.
One area that the club could be looking to improve in is on the wings. Manchester United were linked with Luis Diaz before he joined Liverpool last month.
That move could start a domino effect though. And now, it looks like Manchester United have their eyes on a winger who Liverpool were linked with recently.
As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United are weighing up a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo. The club’s scouts are believed to have watched him several times this season.
Manchester United linked with PSV Eindhoven’s Gakpo
Gakpo is currently enjoying a brilliant campaign with PSV Eindhoven. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old winger has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 33 appearances this season.
Those are brilliant numbers, especially for a player who is expected to develop and improve further moving forward.
Manchester United already have some interesting options on the wings right now. Although Marcus Rashford has been struggling this season, Anthony Elanga has made a massive impact on the first-team since coming in. On the other hand, while Jadon Sancho had his early struggles settling in, he is starting to look like the player who set world football alight during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
Someone like Gakpo could be an excellent addition to the club’s flanks and might bring something different to the table.
